Kunji Pathal(Kozhi Pidi)

For Pidi
Rice powder: 1 1/2 cup
Small onions: 4
Cumin seeds: 1/4 tsp
Grated Coconut:1/2 cup
Water: 1 cup

Chicken boneless : 1/2 kg
Onion : 1 medium, (finely chopped)
Ginger & Garlic paste : 1tsp
Chicken Masala Powder : 1 tsp
Coriander powder: 1tsp
Red Chilli powder : 1 tsp
Garam masala :1 tsp
Turmeric powder : 1/4 tsp
Coconut Oil : 1 Tbsp
Thick Coconut Milk : 1/2 cup
Curry leaves : 1 sprig
Salt to taste 
To roast & grind
Coconut:5 tsp
Curry leaves: a few
Fenugreek seeds:1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder:1/4 tsp
Chilli powder:1/2 tsp
Cardamom:2 nos.
Shallots:3 nos.
Garlic:1 clove

Preparation Method of Pidi
1 Boil water with salt.
2 Add Rice powder to the boiling water( as for pathiri) and mix well .
3 Grind grated coconut with small onions and  cumin seeds.(only one spin)
4 Add this and knead it to make a dough.
5 Apply little oil on palms, make small balls from this and press lightly.
6 Steam them for 5 minutes.Keep aside.

Preparation Method of Masala
1. Marinate the chicken pieces with chicken masala and a pinch of turmeric powder for 30 minutes.
2  Mix Coriander,Red Chilli, Garam masala,Turmeric powder ,ginger- garlic paste, little water and make a smooth paste.keep it aside.
3. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat, add sliced onion and saute until it turns brown in color.
4. Add the marinated chicken pieces and spice paste, salt and mix well.
5.Meanwhile roast the ingredients to be roasted until the coconut turns golden brown,and grind well it by adding little water.
6.When the chicken is 3/4 cooked,add the coconut paste and allow it to boil for few minutes.
7. Add pidis into it. Cook on a low flame until the chicken is cooked and the gravy becomes thick.
8. Remove from fire.
